DPM
A Damp Proof Membrane(DPM) is a membrane is a material applied to prevent moisture transmission. The DPM would be applied to fresh concrete or to concrete where the damp-proof course(DPC) has been damaged or never installed.
If a DPM is not applied, any levelling and flooring can be at risk due to rising moisture. If the moisture rises up to a certain level, it can cause the levelling to fail or the moisture can break down the adhesive holding the floor coverings.
Leveling/Smoothing Underlayments
A levelling/smoothing compound is a fast drying concrete that can be applied to the existing concrete to give a smooth finish prior to fitting flooring. We can apply a screed to the entire floor or we can screed certain areas of the floor to meet you requirements.
Many factors come into play when determining what type levelling will be required.
Factors include: condition of existing slab(roughness, old adhesives, underfloor heating), type of new flooring that is to be installed and moisture in the existing slab.
